I just returned from Havana , Cuba where I had the honour of teaching opera students at the prestigious Instituto Superior de Artes in Havana and Holguin in the Eastern part of Cuba. During a whole week of opera workshops we covered music by Vivaldi, Mozart, Bellini, Verdi, Puccini and much more..
I have also given opera workshops at the University of Oxford Music Faculty, at University of Oregon, Eugene and in Perth, Australia at Edith Cowan University for Performing Arts in the period 2000-2007.
I have studied with some marvellous teachers over the years both privately and in international master classes. I have also transitioned from youthful soubrette through lyric coloratura, dramatic coloratura, lyric soprano and lirico spinto roles in a wide range of operas. This ongoing work over many years continues to inform my approach to my students and also my own vocal technique and the challenges of new operatic roles. I have also worked with some marvellous vocal coaches and conductors internationally. There is always something new to learn….and the student often teaches the teacher!
